1-800 Guys and How I Fell Down The Stairs

January 11, 2010

If you’ve been reading my blog for even a short amount of time, you should come to realize I’m a delicate flower.  There are some things I just don’t do. Especially when it comes to house projects.  When I was single, I managed projects with:

1-800-paint-guy
1-800-grasscutter-guy
1-800-carpetshampooer-guy
1-800-massage-guy

(Please note – these are not actual phone numbers.)
Thankfully, not only [...]

Lessons From A Wife

January 7, 2010

If I could be trapped in a cabin in the woods for 3 months in a blizzard, I’d love it. As long as I had groceries. And running water. And internet service. And cupcakes. And a hot tub. And a man to cut my firewood.
Remember Mrs. Kravitz? My neighborhood-peeker out her window-crime stopper? [...]

Passions Found..

December 30, 2009

Passions Found… The sun slips silently lower in to the lush South Dakota Grasslands, casting a soft golden hue across the landscape, as we slow to take the turn onto the familiar gravel road that will lead us back to Pheasant Phun … The excitement builds as I look forward to once again seeing old friends and the prospect of meeting new. As the gravel crunches beneath the tires and the dust rises behind the truck I fondly think back to my last trip here for  Team Huntress . Two Months ago I came along to Team Huntress with the intention of teaching.

December 25, 2009

Last night we celebrated Christmas Eve with my family. And it never fails … someone always gets hurt. And it wasn’t my sister wiping out on the hard wood floor this time.
We bought my 3 and 4 year old nieces Zhu Zhu pets for Christmas.  Well it didn’t take long for someone to ignore [...]

Bear With Me

December 15, 2009

No there’s not a bear with me but I’m asking that you bear with me as I make a few changes here at The Hunter’s Wife.  If I was at our river house and I said bear with me, then you would know I was sitting in the same room that my bear hangs. [...]

Dead Bag Buck & A Grass Kisser

December 3, 2009

Just another ordinary day at the house of a deer hunter:
Time: 5:00 am – in a dark house.
Mark: Jody can you come in here please.
Jody: Where are you?
Mark: In the kitchen.
I turned the corner, flipped on the kitchen light and there it sat.
And it scared the cupcakes out of me.

My husband’s [...]

411 There’s Someone In My Bushes

December 2, 2009

My very own – could be a lifetime movie – true story …
I had just sold my townhouse and moved in with my hunter.  The house belonged to my husband’s Grandfather and we decided we would stay there until we found a house together. Grandpa’s house was an older home surrounded by very old large [...]

Confessions of A Crazy Hunter’s Wife

December 1, 2009

Yes, that’s me.  The crazy hunter’s wife.  The wife that does and says crazy things sometimes.  And sometimes I try not to but I can’t help myself…
Whenever Mark and I are at Cabelas he always sees someone he knows and forgets to introduce me so this past weekend I said, “Hi I’m Mark’s mistress, Candy.”  [...]

Back In The Saddle .. If Only I Had A Horse

November 30, 2009

I’m back in the saddle … well … not really … I don’t own a saddle and have only been on a horse once in my life.  But for some of us that had a few days off or the past week, it’s back to reality.  But when you run an outdoor blog back to [...]
