Crock Pot Stuffed Green Peppers

by Jody Narantic on September 27, 2009

One of the things I love is my crock pot.  I use it all the time making quick easy meals.  One of our favorites are stuffed green peppers.  What I’ve also done many times is made them ahead of time, vacuum seal then freeze.  I’ve done this to take on our fishing trips and for my husband on his hunting trips.

Stuffed Green Peppers for the crock pot:

Ingredients:

    • 1 1/2 – 2 lbs of Ground Round (Or venison, beef, chuck, etc.)
    • 1/2 Med size Onion
    • 4 Green Peppers
    • 3/4 cup of Bread Crumbs
    • 3/4 cup of Rice
    • 1 egg
    • 1 Jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce
    • Salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste

Chop your onion into small pieces

Slice off the tops of the green peppers and clean insides

Chop up the tops of the green peppers to add in filling.
In a large mixing bowl add your beef

Mix with hands and lay out on cutting board.

I take a knife and cut in 4′s.  Easy even way to stuff 4 peppers.

Fill your peppers and set in crock pot.

This sounds good! I haven’t had any in the crock pot before. Sometimes I will add some sauce in with the meet when I’m mixing it up.

I have been on the prowl for a crock recipe for this… Yours seems to fit the bill.
I saw many.. some even stated that you had to use a certain size crock or it wouldn’t work. I am going to use a liner in the crock for quicker clean up.
I personally love game… but, my friends think it has too strong of a flavor.
I received 5-1 lb pkgs of venison that was ground with a tad of suet in it…
Thanks!

Made these today – good but rice not done. I will make it again and either use instant rice or half the amount of rice cooked.

I’ve never had a problem with the rice being undercooked. I’m not sure what the difference would be. Maybe cook a little longer.

Can you layer your peppers? I’m cooking for big family and need at least double this recipe.
