This Saturday, July 18, 2009 is the annual Festival of the Lakes Fishing Derby.
I plan on attending to take pictures and do a little reporting for my blog. I would love to enter but then I’d have to be put in an age category and have to tell my age. And for the love of being “29″ I would never admit it. Then they’d say, “You’re not 29. You fall under the oldest category.” Then I’d run off with my pink lighted fishing pole and hide out on shore.
You know when you’re hanging out on shore and the rocks are slippery? Well, leave it to me to fall in the water and someone would then have to save me because I’m not a very good swimmer. Then I’d have to wear a life jacket and all the kids on shore would say, “Check out that old lady with her pink Barbie life jacket on. ”
Then the big guys at Mik Lurch and the Optimist Club will think I ate too many cupcakes because my belly’s hanging out of my pink Barbie life jacket. Then my husband would never admit to being my husband and act like he doesn’t know me.
But I know he would be the one to save me if I did fall in. And for the love of cupcakes, let’s hope he can drag my fat @$$ in.
So I’ll be there taking pictures.

I can’t say enough about Mik Lurch Fishing Tackle Outlet and the Optimist Club of Hammond. They both do so much good for the outdoors and the kids within the community all year round.
Have a good day all and I hope to see you there. If you do see me there, please don’t make fun of my life jacket.

I would never make fun of your life jacket. And that is awesome that they do so much for the kids. It definitely sounds like a good time, and I’m looking forward to your blog report about the whole event.
Just catching up on some of my reading. Looks like a great event that will have fun and fishing built in. Can’t beat that combo. You, my dear, will be a great asset at the event! Looking forward to your blog report.
Sounds like it will be fun. Have a good time. And make sure you color coordinate and accessorize so your clothes and jewelry don’t clash with the pink Barbie life jacket.
