Jody - you are soooooo funny! What would be considered a divorce in my situation would be if I had shot a buck and a doe and they were laying side by side. That almost happened to me. Luckily I missed the buck with my muzzleloader... :)

All of you outdoor women. I feel like a sissy. I do have a sporty side to me. I use to play volleyball, my Dad has taken me to the gun range and I love watching football. I also just started fishing a few years ago. Imagine being in the woods with a girly girl in a stand across from you taking pictures and she sees a snake or a tick is in her hair....and that 10pt buck is in range and you are ready to shoot and the girly girl SCREAMS...oh my....Mark would divorce me. :(

What you can do Jody is...you and your hubby get in separate stands that are close together. You can take pictures and if it is cold enough you want have to fight the bugs and your hubby can do his thing. My husband and I hunt in separate stands and I just love it. (We have hunted together also) When I started dating my husband-to-be, I would bring my cross-stitching with me and do that while he was hunting. At that time we hunted behind a ground blind and had plenty of room. I told him one day...I could do this...and the rest is history. That was over 22 years ago! If you really want to go to the woods and take pictures and enjoy the beauty of nature...you will find a way!
PS: You can also purchase a camo pop-up tent, whereby if you did not want to get far from your hubby, this would be ideal for sitting in and taking pictures also. :)

Dana, I am fine with Mark doing the woods thing. Shocking to most, I do fish and love it. I will wait til deer season is over to start posting my fishing stories. I just hope this year I have the nerve to take the fish off the hook all by myself. :)

Kristine is right on - try going along when he's scouting. And for the bugs, they make bug spray for hunters that is supposed to be no or minimal scent. (I've never tried it myself)

Remember, you don't necessarily have to go on a hunt. You could go while he scouts. That way it might be a shorter trip and you wouldn't have to worry about being there when he shot something.

Lots of male hunters I know say they would love it if their wife, girlfriend, significant other just showed an interest. So, I'd guess even wanting to see the photographs and hear the stories is appreciated.

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it and hope you get the chance to go again. I think I'll just enjoy the pictures Mark takes. :)

I went hunting with my husband for a cow elk. I have never hunted in my life and didn't know what is was like. We saw plenty of deer, and about 6 bucks. But all the cows were way too far than I was willing to hike. We walked, climbed, and slid through the most beautiful country I've ever seen. I have the worst sore legs today! I can barley walk! It was so cold this time of year that there weren't any bugs around. But we also saw a Bear! By that time I was ready to get out of there and get home to my babies. I'm thankful I wasn't faced with "opportunity" to kill a cow elk, I don't know if I could, but this experience was way better than watching the wildlife channel. I think I'll go again.
