I’ll Never Get To Have A Pet Squirrel

by Jody on November 20, 2009

Growing up, I remember my Grandma having a pet squirrel in her backyard that she named Foxy. It was the cutest thing to see Foxy eat out of your hand. My Mom and Dad are now carrying on that tradition with feeding the squirrels out their back door. All summer I watched the same four or five squirrels sitting on the back porch waiting for their peanuts to be thrown out the back door. They’ve even gone as far as climbing on the screen waiting to be fed.

It is so cute how they wait to be fed.  And when I went for a visit last weekend, I swear those squirrels were the size of raccoons.  It is just the cutest thing ever.

But I’ll never get to have a pet squirrel because of you know who…Eww…

squirrels

Mark:  What are you doing with that bread?

Jody:  Going out back to feed the squirrels.

Mark:  You don’t want to attract all those squirrels, they’ll get in the garden.  And they’ve been eating my bird seed.

Jody:  Oh so you can feed the birds but I can’t feed the squirrels.

I’ll never have a pet squirrel.

But if I did, he’d probably be able to do this…

I wonder if that squirrel had anything to do with that bandage on her finger?

Have a wonderful weekend all. My hunter will be out in the woods so … umm … I’m off to buy some peanuts.

I think any squirrel would be proud to be your pet!
You have a wonderful weekend too!

Who would want to have a pet squirrel? They’re disgusting. And if I didn’t live in the city, I would have a picture just like the one in this post:):)

And hunters wonder why people who don’t hunt have a problem with it. Some “sport.” Particularly after the animals have been drawn to an ostensibly safe area with food. I’ll never understand how people can turn off their compassion and conscience, selectively.

I enjoy watching Squirrels too! They hang around my patio on top of the fence. My dog loves to think he is going to catch one of them. Never has. Squirrel ate a hole into the seat of my lawn chair. That’s all from Squirrel, Idaho!

Those squirrels drive our dog crazy Mel! They know exactly how long her tie out is.

I love having squirrels in the yard. And in the pot. But I don’t hunt the yard squirrels. Laws, you know.

And sorry, Jerry, I turn off my compassion at mealtime, just like all humans who eat meat.

My hunter lets me feed the squiglely’s until the 1) try to nest in the attic or 2) try to nest in one of the boats in the marina… I have some really good recipes for them if you need them Jody.

Right on NorCal. I did eat squirrel once and it tasted a whole lot like a pine tree. My guess is it was the wrong kind. Theres a lot of meat on a squirrel the size of racoons Jody, and eating peanuts?! they oughta be good.
