When running an outdoor blog when you’re not necessarily an outdoor person you may not know all the big players in the game. It’s like walking in a football locker room not knowing who Peyton Manning is. But I’m learning and with the help of some of my outdoor friends like Sherry Kerr of Outdoor Media Resources, I’m learning the Peyton Mannings of the outdoors.
When it comes to conversations about hunting, my “married to a hunter brain” has been trained for hunting stories to go in one ear and out the other. So when Sherry mentioned the name Jim Wilson, a good southern gentlemen of the south, I took notes and did an online search.
From his website; Sheriff Jim Wilson – Singer, Gunslinger, Sheriff – Cowboy – Western Entertainer – Senior Field Editor – NRA Publications.
And I saw this picture …

And I love it! What an amazing picture. It’s one of those pictures that reflects exactly what Sheriff Jim Wilson is all about. It reminds me of my Dad and all the old westerns he still watches. With his gun holster on.
And I do believe I may have seen the Sheriff on a few episodes of Bonanza or Gunsmoke.
It also reminds me of growing up and having manners and respect. Do I address the Sheriff as Mr. Wilson, Sheriff Wilson, Mr. Sheriff Sir, Mr. Sheriff Jim Wilson Sir?
Oh goodness, I need a cupcake.
Then I came across this picture…

For the love of home cookin’. What in the hiny tail is that?
Have a good day all … if Mr. Sheriff Jim Wilson Sir ever invites me over for dinner, I wonder if we could have pizza?

Now that is an excellent question. I am also wondering what that is!
If you get an answer on what it is, I’d definitely like to know. I don’t actually recall ever seeing an animal body connected to one of those…
Maybe I should have made this a “guess the hiny tail” contest.
Maybe it’s a new ingredient for a soup recipe…
could be anything really, but my husband (good ole taxidermist) says it looks like a regular old bulls tail.
Cute post!!!
I met @sherrifjim at the SCI Convention. In our short conversation I could tell he was a good guy and would have loved to have more time to sit down, have a cup of coffee and “lie” to each other.
To me, he’s just “Jim,” and I’m pretty sure you could get away with that too, Jody. He’s one of those people who have made it fun for me to be in the hunting industry for many years, a wonderful gentleman, entertaining hunting pardner, and dear friend. You couldn’t go wrong sharing a pizza (or hiney tail soup) with Jim.
