The Hunter’s Wife Hunting How To’s – Deer Eyeballs

by Jody Narantic on February 15, 2011

deerSo this morning I spent a few minutes on my Google Analytics and found certain phrases as to how someone came to my site from searching Google.

At home pajama person searching Google:

How to fix the deer eye on a mount?

~  Please note:  I am not a licensed or certified taxidermist.  Nor do I know anything about eyeballs.  Or dissecting one.  Like a cow’s eyeball for a school science fair project.  Thank the blue ribbons I had one of the smartest girls as my partner.  I don’t know what I would have done if I had to touch a cow eyeball.  Or look at a cow eyeball.  Where the cow eyeball still isn’t in the poor baby cow head.

I still smell chloroform.

I think I need to send her flowers.

And chocolate.

Or maybe a little baby stuffed cow.

Thank you Michele.

If you have the eyeball:

  • You could probably glue it
  • Or use duct tape
  • Or maybe nail polish
  • You could always call the maintenance man that cuts your grass and kills your spiders

If the eyeball rolled away and you lost the damn thing:

  • You could probably use a marble
  • But don’t try using a dark navy marble.  It will be very noticeable.  Believe me and my one dark navy thigh high and the other black navy thigh high during a meeting.  Someone will notice you had a late night the night before.
  • Maybe a black olive would work
  • Or you could just say the hell with it and put an eye patch over it
  • Of the pirate kind

Please repair deer eyeballs at your own risk.  If your cat damages your deer mount because you chose to replace the eyeball with a black olive, I do not take any responsibility for damage to any deer mounts because a sneaky climbing baby lion with bear claws ate the eyeball.

Have a good day all!

Well, I’m glad to know you’re a source for info on deer eyeballs. In the past, I’ve asked taxidermists all my deer (and other animals) eyeball questions because I didn’t know this was one of your areas of expertise. Who knew?

Sherry, I am good for some things.

Stacey, me too. Might have to get one and see how long it takes Mark to notice.
